Namaste from Yoga Bearz
Soothing young bodies and minds
As a kids' yoga teacher living and working in the Bromley area, my goal is to help local children to become more healthy and to learn valuable life skills which will enhance their physical and emotional well-being – setting them up for a healthy, balanced and happy life!
My classes are full of fun and imaginative games, which teach children a wide range of physical and relaxation exercises and help them to develop body awareness, flexibility and core strength. They learn how to recognise and release physical tension and emotional stress, and how to work alongside others as part of a team.
Children who regularly attend my classes have a lot of fun and make new friends, but they also benefit from enhanced concentration, listening skills, attention span, physical wellbeing, confidence and self-esteem.

"Yoga for school-age children"
"Yoga and mindfulness have been shown to improve both physical and mental health in school-age children (ages 6 to 12 years). Yoga improves balance, strength, endurance and aerobic capacity in children. Yoga and mindfulness offer psychological benefits for children as well. A growing body of research has already shown that yoga can improve focus, memory, self-esteem, academic performance, and classroom behaviour, and can even reduce anxiety and stress in children"

"Yoga for Kids: Why Your Child Should Try It"
Reader's Digest
"Today’s children are spending an increasing amount of time looking at screens or working on schoolwork. Yoga for kids is a great way to get your children moving again. Yoga develops strength and flexibility at the same time, most kids are usually either strong or flexible, but not generally both. Yoga can help with this.
Yoga lovers have long boasted of how calming a regular yoga practice can be. The reason yogis feel so good after yoga is that this practice has been found to release chemicals in the brain associated with lowering stress and anxiety. These effects aren’t reserved for adults; anxious children can use yoga to help them tame their worries.
At school each day, children are facing challenges that require an incredible about of mental focus. At times, our children may even experience school-related stress and anxiety because of the pressure to do well in their classes or after-school activities. In highly stressed students, yoga has been shown to lower their stress levels and to improve their performance at school.
Yoga can be instrumental in teaching children to listen to and care for their bodies. Children can be taught to pay attention to their bodies and how to address discomfort or pain during their practice or how their body feels when they’re not getting enough sleep. These are self-care strategies everyone can benefit from and that children can continue throughout their lives".
About Me
Before I found yoga, I was a professional dancer and children's entertainer. I have always wanted to work with children, and teaching kids' yoga is my dream job.
I am fully qualified to teach children from 2 to 12 years as well as family yoga.
I teach in various different schools throughout Bromley and Chislehurst and run weekly classes during term time at the Bromley Cricket Club and the Assembly Halls in Coney Hall, West Wickham.
I also have an interest in teaching children with particular physical and emotional difficulties and have run workshops at the Evelina Children's Hospital; part of the world renowned Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust.
During school holidays I regularly team up with Louise Clegg, my friend and colleague from Calm, Strong Minds, to run joint kids' yoga and mindfulness workshops.

Teaching children during school can be a tool and gateway to helping children learn poses to enhance their balance, coordination, flexibility and strength but also teaching children patience's, how to tap into their breathing when feeling anxious, empathy and self acceptance.
Teaching at these school's is an incredible step in the right direction and something I hope all schools consider for their pupils.
If you think your school would benefit from children's yoga please get in touch.
I love working with schools throughout Kent and hope to work with as many as I can.

See What Others Have Said
"In December 2016 our Son was diagnosed with a life changing condition in which he finds it hard to move as freely as necessary.
Yoga was 1 of the things that was recommended for us to try to help improve his symptoms.
After a lot of hunting we found the amazing Michaela.
Our Son loves going to her classes and and we feel that his flexibility has greatly improved since he started attending.
Our Sons exact words are: "Michaela is very kind and her classes are lots of fun".
Michaela is an absolute pleasure and we would have no doubt in recommending her Yoga sessions."

"My 10 year old daughter has been doing weekly yoga classes with Michaela for a year and has amazed me with the benefits of learning how to calm herself down with breathing techniques, and her balance, focus and poses are amazing. She has always loved going to the classes and I love that she leaves them calm and rested. I would happily highly recommend Michaela's classes - she is a passionate, caring, fun teacher".

" I am a registered child minder and Michaela has been teaching the children in my care during school holidays for about a year now.
Her sessions are fun and innovative, with new themes and ideas that keep the children engaged and interested. Children of all ages adore her and because of her boundless enthusiasm and gentle encouragement, they also come to love yoga, with all of its benefits, both physical and psychological.
She is always reliable and I would have no hesitation in recommending her as an amazing yoga teacher".
